One session, step by step

A day with Lärkompis

A session takes about ten minutes and ends by itself. This is what it looks like, with pictures straight from the app (which is in Swedish).

1 of 7 Warm-up. The session starts with something your child can already do. It feels good from the start.

The app: Pix says "Vi börjar med en uppvärmning" (Let's start with a warm-up) and a Vidare (Next) button. The app in Year 5: Vera says "Vi börjar med en uppvärmning" (Let's start with a warm-up) and a Vidare (Next) button. The app in Year 8: "Vi börjar med en uppvärmning" (Let's start with a warm-up) and a Vidare (Next) button, in the dark style.

2 of 7 Task. One task at a time, at the right level for your child. No clock ticking.

The app: a number line task. You are on 75 and jump 13 steps forward. The app in Year 5: place 4/8 on the number line. The app in Year 8: write 6⁹ ÷ 6⁵ as a single power with base 6, with a keypad for the answer.

3 of 7 Hint. If an answer is wrong, a hint appears, one small step at a time. Never the answer straight away.

The app: a hint under the task, "Räkna en gång till, lugnt och steg för steg" (Count once more, calmly and step by step). The app in Year 5: a hint under the task, "Inte riktigt. Ta ett steg i taget" (Not quite. One step at a time). The app in Year 8: a hint under the task, "Kontrollräkna. Var tror du att det sprack?" (Check your working. Where do you think it went wrong?)

4 of 7 Mini-game. Halfway through, there is a game that practises the same thing in a new way.

The app: the mini-game Rätta roboten (Fix the Robot). Knut has worked out 54 + 3 = 84 and the child helps him. The app in Year 5: the mini-game Rätta roboten (Fix the Robot), where Knut has written 1/5 = 3/7. The app in Year 8: the mini-game Rätta roboten (Fix the Robot) with the task 200,000 = 2 · 10ⁿ.

5 of 7 Surprise. Sometimes a parcel is waiting. Your child guesses first, then opens it.

The app: "En överraskning: Gissa först" (A surprise: guess first) with a parcel and an Öppna paketet (Open the parcel) button. The app in Year 5: Höstens skatter (Autumn treasures), "Löven faller och jag hittar en massa saker i marken" (The leaves are falling and I find lots of things in the ground). The app in Year 8: Vera's autumn plan, "Hösten är terminens tyngsta del. Vi tar den i små steg" (Autumn is the hardest part of the term. We take it in small steps).

6 of 7 Reward. At the end, Pix tells your child what they did well. Praise for how they worked, not points. At the end, your child finds out what they did well. Praise for how they worked, not points.

The app: "Så här jobbade du" (This is how you worked): you used a hint and found the answer yourself. The app in Year 5: "Passet är klart, Alva" (The session is done, Alva) and Så här jobbade du (This is how you worked). The app in Year 8: "Passet är klart, Alva" (The session is done, Alva) and Så här jobbade du (This is how you worked), in the dark style.

7 of 7 The map. What your child can do becomes places on a map that turn from fog to colour.

The app: the discovery map for maths, with places such as Former (Shapes) and Mönster (Patterns). The app in Year 5: Din ö-värld (Your island world) with the islands for maths and Swedish. The app in Year 8: the home screen with Dagens pass (Today's session), Linjära ekvationer (Linear equations), and the choice Lagom (Just right) or Tuff (Tough).

Then the session is over. In the parent panel you can see what was practised.

Things that need more practice come back after a few days.

  • Each child has their own path

Brothers and sisters each get their own path and are never compared.

Questions and answers

How much does Lärkompis cost?

SEK 49, once. There is no subscription. The price includes unlimited children and all future updates. You can try the app first: 3 sessions per child, without an account.

Which years and subjects are there?

Years 1–9 (ages 7–15) in maths, Swedish, English, science and social studies. The app adjusts the tasks to your child's year and the time of the school year.

Does the app follow Lgr22?

Yes. Every exercise is linked to the core content of Lgr22, the Swedish national curriculum, and you can see the link in the parent panel. Maths, science and social studies cover all the core content for every stage, and Swedish does for Years 7–9. We are adding more all the time. New curricula apply from 1 July 2028. The app moves with them, and your child keeps their progress when the curriculum changes.

Are the answers always right?

Yes. The correct answers are worked out by the app itself or come from content we have checked. No answer is made up by an AI.

Does my child need an account?

No. Children never have accounts. Only you as a parent can create one, if you want to buy or sync between devices. Without an account, everything is saved on the device.

What data do you collect?

Your child's progress is saved on the device. If you turn on sync, we store a random ID and your child's year group, never your child's name or avatar. There are no ads, no tracking and no cookies.

Does it work on an iPad and without internet?

Yes. Lärkompis is a web app that you add to your home screen, and it works offline after the first visit.

Can I get my money back?

Yes. You have a 14-day money-back guarantee. Get in touch and you will get your money back.

Can I buy it for a whole class?

Yes. A class gets 40 places at SEK 19 each, SEK 760 per class. The teacher shares a class code with the parents. Read more under For schools.

Is the app in English?

No. The app is in Swedish and follows the Swedish national curriculum (Lgr22). It is made for children who go to school in Sweden, including international families. This website is in English so that parents can read about it.

My child goes to an English-speaking school in Sweden. Is Lärkompis useful?

If the school follows the Swedish national curriculum (Lgr22), yes: most schools in Sweden do, including many with teaching in English. Schools that teach only an international programme, such as some IB schools, may follow a different curriculum. The app itself is in Swedish.
